Who are we?

Nantwich Elim Church

Locally, Nantwich Elim Church started about 28 years ago with a small group of people who were meeting to pray together. When the Elim Bible College moved into Nantwich this group linked with Elim and formed Nantwich Elim Pentecostal Church. We are locally governed and are free to develop our own vision as led by the Holy Spirit.

Nantwich Elim is a Pentecostal Church that is part of the Elim Foursquare Gospel Alliance (commonly known as the 'Elim Pentecostal Church'). The Elim Movement is a part of the worldwide pentecostal movement, which embraces nearly every country of the world, and is a member of both the 'Churches Together' and the 'Evangelical Alliance'

Elim Foursquare Gospel Alliance

The Elim Pentecostal Church is a growing movement of more than 550 Christian congregations in the UK and Ireland, and over 9000 worldwide. Elim was originly founded in Ireland in 1915, by George Jeffreys, a young Christian from Maesteg in South Wales. Jeffreys and a group of friends, know as the Elim Evangelistic Band, preached, started churches and witnessed a move of God that was characterised by miraculous healings and an explosion in the number of people becoming Christians.

In a world that can feel like a desert our 21st Century Churches seek to be a place of spiritual resource within their communities. The founders wanted their new movement to express their vision and values, and so chose 'Elim', the name of an Oasis in the Bible that the people of Israel discovered as they wandered through the desert. It provided shade and refreshment to all who encountered it.

Today, the leadership of the Elim Movement and it's Church's are consistently seeking to:

  • reach up to God in worship

  • reach out to the community in service

  • share the difference that Jesus Christ makes to lives

  • challenge the trend towards declining church attendance
